Meetings

Three different kinds of meetings aimed at coordinating the work of the different partners inside the Working Groups activity have been organized within the timeline of the project:

The General Assembly meetings:

Two General Assembly gathering all the project partners have been organized during the project.

First General Assembly, Forlì 16-18 of March 2008: The first general meeting was organized in March 2008 and hosted by the University of Bologna, Forlì. The general assembly gathered more than 200 people among the project partners and the general public. During the 3-days conference, the majority of the partners involved discussed about the framework of the publication plan and the structure of their papers. Some working group decided to follow a country based approach while other decided for a thematic approach. Since this first meeting all the working groups related to the teaching of EU studies decided to work in close collaboration and to present a single publication plan.

Final General Assembly, Rome 1-3 of July 2010: The second and final general assembly was organized in Rome and gathered again all the members of the network plus the researchers from third countries integrated in the network thanks to an additional grant from the Jean Monnet Action program. During the assembly divided in plenary and working group sessions the members of the network presented the first draft of their papers and discussed about the finalization of the publication plan. During the three days meeting, Prof. Simon Hix and Prof. Andrew Moravcsik have been invited to participate in a very interesting debate about the future and the development of EU studies.

Program of the conference

Coordinating Committee:

The coordinating Committee meetings were organized for the Working Groups Leaders in order to coordinate the activities of the working groups and discuss the main strategy to succeed in the project. One of the key components for the success of this project has been identified in the inter-relations among the working group leaders and the project coordinator. It has been essential that all the working group leaders were aware of the importance of their work. To assure coordination among the working group leaders four different meetings have been organized among the coordinators during the lifetime of the project. This was surely the best way to share the common goals of the project and to build up mutual trust.

Working Group Meetings:

From an organizational point of view the project was designed to achieve the proposed objectives following a decentralized approach. The substantive work of the project was concentrated at the level of the different working groups (WGs). Their coordination was the added value of the project. During the different WG meetings organized by the coordinator, each coordinator acted as a liaison between the management unit of the project and the project partners included in the working groups he/she chairs.
