István Szilágyi, Pannon University, Veszprém
Prof. Dr. István Szilágyi is the Dean of Faculty of Arts and the Head of Department of Social Sciences and European Studies at the Pannon University of Veszprém, where he also directs the Centre for European Studies. He gives courses and lectures on Political Science, Contemporary History, Comparative Constitutional Law, European Community Law, Comparative Politics, Theory of International Relations, Geopolitics, EU and the Mediterranean World, Portugal and Spain:History and Politics in the twentieth Century, Regional Policy of the European Union. He holds European Permanent courses:”The Institutional System of the EU and its function”, and „Structural-Cohesion Policy,Institutional Reforms and Enlargement of the EU”
He has been a guest professor at different Spanish (Alicante, Granada, Madrid, La Laguna, Las Palmas, Salamanca, Valencia, Valladolid), Portuguese (Coimbra, Lisboa,Vila Real), English (Nottingham, Norwich, Leeds), Russian (Moscow, Petersburg), German (Darmstadt), Italian ( Trieste), Cubanian (La Habana) Universities.
He has carried on researches on Theory of International Relations and Geopolitics; Political Science; Comparative Politics; European Community Law; Constitutional Theory;Transitions, Changes and Modernizations of Political Systems in South America, East-Central Europe and Southern Europe; European Union, regionalism and the Social Cohesion; The Mediterranean World:Portugal and Spain (History, Politics, and Law) in the twentieth Century; New trends of European Legal and Political Development, in Spain , Portugal, Great Britain, Russia, Italy and Cuba.
He is Doctor of Hungarian Academy of Sciences. Dr. Szilágyi has published 9 books and more than 160 papers and studies in Hungary and abroad. He participates in editing of Hungarian and Spanish periodicals: Comitatus, Pro Philosohpia, Mediterranean World, Iberoamericana Quinqueecclesiensis, Cuadernos Constitucionales, La Musa, Acta Histórica, Political Science Review.
